Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced thick
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel.
  2. Slice the mushrooms thickly (about half an inch) to maintain their shape during cooking.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add two tablespoons of butter.
  4. Once melted, add the mushrooms in a single layer. If necessary, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Sauté until browned (about 4-5 minutes), then reduce heat to medium and add the remaining butter along with minced garlic.
  6. Sauté until fragrant (about one minute).
  7. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, oregano, tarragon, paprika, black pepper, and optional chili powder.
  8. Simmer for another few minutes before adjusting seasoning. Serve warm, garnished with parsley or chives.
