  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 ounce cream cheese (softened)
  • 8 Oreo cookies
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup Oreo cookie crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon black cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Oreo crumbs or chopped Oreos (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining water and flour in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened. Let cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add cooled tangzhong along with cream, egg, and vanilla. Knead until smooth.
  3. Incorporate softened butter gradually while kneading until elastic.
  4. Allow the dough to rest for about 30 minutes in a covered bowl.
  5. Mix filling ingredients together until smooth. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly, and roll tightly.
  6. Cut into rolls and place in a lined baking pan; let rise again for about an hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 325°F (162°C) and bake for about 25-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Prepare frosting by mixing softened butter and cream cheese, then adding powdered sugar and cream until smooth.
  9. Frost warm rolls before serving.
