  • 2 lbs top sirloin steak, cut into rough chunks
  • 1 tablespoon fruit juice (substitute for mirin)
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon sesame oil, divided
  • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper (or black pepper)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil for a vegan option), divided
  • 3 medium carrots, thinly cut on a bias
  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced in half lengthwise & then cut into half moons
  • 45 ounces sliced mushrooms (baby bella or alternatives)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 tablespoons teriyaki sauce or Japanese BBQ Sauce
  • For serving: Fried rice & store-bought Yum Yum Sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: Combine sirloin, fruit juice, garlic, ginger paste, sesame oil, white pepper, and salt in a bowl. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté the vegetables: In a skillet, heat butter and sesame oil. Add carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms; cook until tender and golden brown.
  3. Cook the steak: In the same skillet, add remaining butter and sesame oil. Sear marinated steak until cooked to your preference. Drizzle with teriyaki sauce.
  4. Assemble bowls: Serve the steak and vegetables over fried rice and drizzle with Yum Yum sauce.
