Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, drizzle olive oil and sauté onions and bell peppers for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  2. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, add ground beef, and break it apart as it cooks until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Lower heat and place cheese slices over the beef mixture; cover the skillet until melted (about 2-3 minutes).
  5. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through to create pockets.
  6. Generously spoon the beef and veggie mixture into each roll.
  7. Optionally toast the rolls slightly before serving for added texture.
