  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for searing)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (slurry, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Form into four patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear patties until browned (4-5 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions and mushrooms until softened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer. Return patties to the skillet and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix cornstarch with water; stir into the gravy until thickened (1-2 minutes). Season with salt and pepper before serving.
